Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission Records Show Unprecedented Growth in Securities Issuance

31 de October de 2024

The Brazilian capital market continues to show significant expansion, as shown in the latest Economic Bulletin of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), published on October 21st. The document reveals that, in the first three quarters of 2024, the volume of securities issuance reached R$663.4 billion, surpassing by 55% the total value issued during the same period in 2023 (R$427.3 billion). This significant growth is well above the inflation accumulated over the period, indicating renewed market strength. The highlights were fixed income securities and securitization, which together totaled R$520.8 billion, compared to R$276.2 billion in the previous year.

Additionally, the number of regulated participants increased by 0.6%, totaling 88,968. This growth was not larger due to a 12% drop among individual portfolio managers, caused by administrative suspensions due to non-submission of Reference Forms, as required by CVM Resolution 21. However, a notable highlight is the sector of crowdfunding, which grew by 4% in the quarter, with offerings governed by CVM Resolution 88 surpassing the R$1 billion mark in added annual value for the first time.

Another significant figure is the estimate of the total value of the regulated market, which reached R$55.05 trillion, a 25% increase compared to the second half of 2023. Excluding derivatives, this value grows by R$2.05 trillion, or 15%, with a focus on the growth of the investment fund industry, which alone added R$1.6 trillion.

In the secondary market, the daily average in the stock market had a significant increase for real state Investment funds and debentures. Also, derivative contracts experienced a rise of over 7% compared to figures from the first three quarters of 2023

These figures indicate not only the robustness of the Brazilian capital market, but also its diversity and maturity. For foreign institutions, the environment is becoming increasingly attractive, with growing demand for the intermediation of new businesses and investment opportunities, especially in fixed income assets and securitization, which are driving the market.

Moreover, the rapid growth of crowdfunding platforms and the strengthening of the investment fund industry are clear signs that Brazil continues to establish itself as an attractive destination for global capital. The role of brokers will be essential in connecting international investors to this dynamic and growing market, reinforcing Brazil’s position as a relevant player in the international financial scene.
